Ride north with Sustrans

This season’s last social leisure cycle ride organised by Sustrans Bassetlaw volunteer rangers will be on Sunday 15th October from Retford, when we’ll sneak over the county boundary into Yorkshire on a ‘Stockwith Saunter’. Meet from 9.45am at Café Roubaix, 38 Bridgegate, for a 10.00am start.

We’ll set out via Hayton and Clayworth to Gringley-on-the-Hill. Descending northwards, we’ll head to Walkeringham and take quiet lanes past Misterton, bearing east to follow the Trent-side roads through West Stockwith and on towards Gunthorpe. Looping back into Nottinghamshire, our lunch stop will be at the popular Pantry 8020 café in Misterton.

On the return, we’ll briefly revisit Walkeringham to cross our outward route, then continue south through Beckingham, Saundby and Sturton-le-Steeple to North Leverton. Taking Retford Road past the windmill, we’ll head to Grove to reach Retford via White Houses and the London Road cycle paths.

This 40-mile, figure-of-eight ride will be all on-road, so suitable for all types of bike. As there are a few hills, riders will need a fair level of fitness. Those under 18 are welcome, but should be accompanied by a responsible adult.
