Fundraiser Darren Harker is training to take on the Rat Race Coast to Coast endurance event in Scotland for Autism East Midlands this September. Rat Race’s original Coast to Coast endurance adventure returns to the wild hills of Scotland on the 9th and 10th September.
Rat Racer competitors run, bike and kayak over 105 miles through one of the most famous mountain landscapes in the world. Awe inspiring views and a stunningly epic course await you in the Scottish Highlands!
Darren has also set his sights on entering the Iron Man challenge in September and plans to complete a series of distant cycles to support his fundraising goal to support Autism East Midlands and Ordsall Primary School.
Darren, from Retford, is a father and the director of Industrial cleaning company Kingfisher Site Services. He said: “I have a family member who is severely affected by this condition and see many other children affected too. I also see the great work that Ordsall Primary School and Autism East Midlands do. The hard work and love shown by the staff is amazing. I want to give something back to the community and hope everyone can dig deep for two great causes.
“The gym I attend is called Quality Lifestyles, they are based in Westwoodside near Doncaster. The owner is called Paul Seaman who is an ex Royal Marines Personal Trainer instructor. I have attended this gym since 2006 and had Paul as my personal trainer. Paul is helping me prepare for the challenge in September, as part of this he challenged me to cycle three distances over the months of June, July and August in return for a £125 boost to my sponsorship. That equated to 50 miles in June, 70 miles in July and 90 miles in August.”
Darren has set a fundraising goal of £2,000; you can show your support and follow his journey at www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/darren-harker-1.
