Each November, the Bassetlaw Railway Society organises a model railway exhibition at Retford Town Hall with this year’s event taking place over the weekend of Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th November. Somewhat usually, one of the exhibits features a North American themed layout complete with a real waterfall that cascades into a ravine below a wooden trestle bridge.
The exhibition will include at least 14 layouts and the return of the society’s Bassetfield exhibit that will feature trains that have run on the East Coast Main Line and especially through Retford station over the decades. Layouts will range in scale from Lego City Trains in G scale through O, 00, TT and the diminutive N scale.
Trade support will be provided by companies supplying all manner of model railway accessories ranging from the newest products available to pre-owned items. There will be demonstrations of wagon and coach building plus displays from various railway societies. Refreshments will be available both days with ample free parking on Sunday.
The exhibition is open from 10.00am to 4.00pm on both days and admission charges remain at £4.00 for adults, £2.00 for children under 16 and £10.00 for a family group.
