Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th July is Open Churches weekend, and at Clarborough Church there is plenty going on all weekend. There will be a flower festival in church on the theme of ‘Earth Wind and Fire’ so the floral art arranged in church will reflect that. Alongside the flowers, there will be arts and crafts on display, including paintings, needlework, knitted items and much more. There will be something for everyone to enjoy looking at, and all done by talented local people. Anyone who would like to display their crafts in church please contact June on 01427 880965 or email email@example.com for more details. Organisers would love to have the church absolutely full of flowers and crafts, and welcome anyone who would like to get involved.
The church will be open between 10.00am and 5.00pm each day over the Open Churches weekend, with refreshments available to buy. At 7.30pm on Saturday 8th, popular local choir Village Harmony will be performing a selection of popular songs old and new. Tickets for ‘Anything Goes’ are £5 including refreshments and can be booked by contacting Maureen on 07551 381965.
Later in July, Sunday 30th, sees Clarborough Church host its annual ‘Lammas’ festival, this is a celebration which in days gone by was when villagers came to church to give thanks for the first loaves of bread baked with the new grain harvest. This takes place from 1.00pm to 4.00pm, followed by a short service. There will be craft stalls and all sorts of fun events such as skittles, music and country crafts. The sunflower competition will be judged, look out for information about this on the Clarborough and Welham Facebook page. Anyone wishing to have a craft stall please contact Maureen on 07551 381965.
