How many shopping days left? Yes, Christmas is almost upon us and if the stress is beginning to get to you let the North Notts Local Group of Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust take some of the strain. Their Christmas Social and Quiz Night is on Thursday 12th December and is sure to get you in the mood for the festive season. Fiendish wildlife quizzes, a fabulous buffet and a fantastic MC to ensure all goes well. Go along and test your knowledge, meet your friends and have a good time. Tickets are limited and can be obtained from the reception desk at Idle Valley, priced £4.00.

This season’s series of lectures continues in the New Year, beginning on 9th January when Colin Watkin will share his enthusiasm for moths and moth trapping with a talk called ‘The Magic of Moths’.

On 13th February, Dr Peter Crittenden of Nottingham University will give a talk on lichens, those fascinating plants we often see adorning gravestones, giving the impression they can live without nutrients. Dr Seb Spain of Sheffield University will join the group on 12th March to give a talk called ‘Plastic: Can’t Live with it; Can’t Live without it!’. The AGM will be held on Thursday 9th April followed by a talk on the ‘Dormouse Project’ by Lorna Griffiths.

All lecture meetings are held in the Rural Learning Centre at the Idle Valley, North Road (A638), Retford DN22 8RQ starting at 7.30pm. Admission is £2.50 and includes refreshments. Non-members are welcome. For more information call Jan on 01777 709974 or 07969 180067 or email janwilliamson133@gmail.com. To be added to the email update list, please email Jan with your request.
