Northern Musical Theatre Orchestra

The Northern Musical Theatre Orchestra (NMTO) is reflecting with pride on a fantastic first year at the Majestic Theatre in the heart of Retford, and is looking to the future with excitement, with some fabulous events to end 2018.
The NMTO was formed in April last year, and it has big plans for the future. The orchestra’s musical director, Brady Mould, said: “We are so proud of what we have achieved so far. The NMTO project offers performers the unique opportunity to be a part of something fun that also has huge benefits. We are keen to develop both local links and to give people the chance play or sing in a risk-free, social environment.”

The NMTO have now welcomed over 275 musicians and singers through the doors onto the stage of the Majestic to take part in one of their private monthly play-throughs, and they welcomed over 300 audience members to their first public concert in December 2017.

Brady continued: “The overall aim for the orchestra is to have wonderful time together as an ensemble, and play some really great music. It gives musicians the chance to meet others, and we are well on the way to establishing a hub for the performing arts scene in the local area.”

Their recruitment drive is continuing throughout the UK, and they have started back their monthly get-togethers after a break for summer. They will be holding monthly play-throughs in October and November, then in December they will be presenting their second public concert; ‘Silver, White Winters: The Classics of Rodgers and Hammerstein’!

Don’t miss out on the opportunity to spend another evening with the Northern Musical Theatre Orchestra; join them in celebrating the most successful partnership in the history of musical theatre. Featuring songs from Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein’s most-loved musicals, including Carousel, Oklahoma! and The Sound of Music, this is not a night to be missed.

Brady said: “Our impressive 50-piece orchestra and chorus of both professional and local singers will also present a Festive Finale, which is sure to leave you all in the Christmas spirit in time for the big day!”
