North Notts Chamber Choir

North Notts Chamber Choir was founded in 1996 and has established itself as a major contributor to the musical life of the North Nottinghamshire area. With a membership from a wide variety of musical backgrounds, the choir aims to perform at the highest possible standard whilst at the same time taking enormous pleasure in rehearsing glorious music in good company.

The choir performs two major concerts per year, in collaboration with Worksop College Chapel Choir. The concerts, with full orchestral accompaniment, are performed in the magnificent college chapel, and regularly include professional orchestras and soloists. The concerts feature music familiar and less well known and have included Handel’s Messiah, Mozart’s Requiem and works from composers John Rutter and Bob Chilcott.

A further concert is held in the summer at various local venues performing music of a more light-hearted but interesting nature.

The choir rehearses between 7.30pm and 9.15pm every Tuesday in Mountgarret Rehearsal Room at the college during term time under the leadership of musical director, Timothy Uglow.

Christmas concert

This year, on Saturday 2nd December, the choir will be performing their annual Christmas Concert in Worksop College Chapel at 7.00pm. The music programme will be varied and include some light-hearted choices as well as some more serious works and they would be delighted if you could join them to help celebrate Christmas. Tickets are available from choir members, the box office on 01909 537100 or through (search for Worksop College Music Series).

Open rehearsal evening

The choir are always keen to welcome new members and to that end they are holding an Open Rehearsal Evening on Tuesday 23rd January 2024 at 7.30pm at Mountgarret to which all prospective members, tentative singers or just the curious, would be most welcome.

The format of the evening will be in part rehearsing their programme for a concert in March 2024 with the remainder of the evening spent socialising with a glass of wine and some light refreshment where visitors’ questions and information on the choir can be discussed in a friendly atmosphere.

If you would like to register your interest in the Open Rehearsal Evening please contact them, without any obligation, using the email address and they will send you details.
