Bassetlaw volunteer rangers invite you to join their next social leisure cycle ride taking place on Sunday 4th June, starting at 10.00am from Café Roubaix at 38 Bridgegate, in Retford.
We’ll head out via Eaton, Upton, Askham and East Markham to join National Cycle Network route 647 and meet other riders from the Worksop direction. Following route 647, we’ll make our way to Fledborough to gather with more riders from Newark, Lincoln and Gainsborough for the annual garden party charity lunch. Their tasty bacon cobs are recommended!
Whilst in the village, there’s the chance to visit the church of St Gregory, cared for by the Churches Conservation Trust, and the historic Fledborough viaduct over the River Trent is also nearby, easily accessible by bike. With a return through East Drayton, the total distance will be around 30 miles. On this ride, we’ll use country roads and quiet lanes, so any roadworthy bike will be suitable. Riders under 18 are welcome but should be accompanied by a responsible adult.
Our usual third Sunday of the month rides resume on 16th July, with a new route west from Worksop to the Rother Valley Country Park — more details in the next issue. In the meantime, Newark rangers will be leading their ‘Bingham Boomerang’ ride on Sunday 2nd July.
