Get involved with a small group of members who undertake to work on the canal side, and in local Wildlife Trust Reserves. The British Naturalists’ Association records insects from butterfly counts and moth trapping, to live trapping small mammals and recording their details. All our records are sent to national and county biological recorders. They do not get involved with the practical maintenance of any of the sites they work on.
Members are budding and experienced naturalists’ all keen to learn from each other. They have their own collecting equipment; nets and live traps, etc. They each commit a few hours each month to our hobby, which is enjoyable and rewarding, with varying degrees of fitness, and can normally accommodate most people.
Join the local group on occasional visits to places within our local area, including; Donna Nook Seal Colony; Gibralter Point Nature Reserve, Skegness; the Wildflower Centre near Nottingham and others.
Members usually car share and take packed lunches if needed. If you would like to spend a few enjoyable hours out with new friends do join them. Membership of the BNA is £15.00 per annum for senior citizens, and £4.00 for additional members at the same address. Standard membership is £20.00, and £4.00 for additional members at the same address.
