The duo ‘Much Ado About Jazz’ performs at Ordsall Parish Hall on Saturday 8th October at 7.30pm. You can follow a live stream performance at www.facebook.com/watch/live/?ref=watch_permalink&v=523907232664463.
Starring Chris Gumbley on various wind instruments and accompanied by Al Gurr on piano, Much Ado is a show that is a bit different. They are experienced session musicians, performers and educators. They understand the importance of audience engagement which is aimed at people who do not necessarily like jazz (as well as those who do!).
An irresistible combination of classic jazz (think Gershwin and Brubeck) and dry humour, incorporating plenty of audience interaction. Highly entertaining while maintaining a high level of musical integrity, the show offers an insight into how jazz musicians work.
The engagement is audience centric with an outcome of delivering a community event without compromising on their professional performance. If you add to that a large dose of dry humour you’ll start to get a feel for what their performance is all about.
This show is the first in the Ordsall Live & Local season of shows. Tickets for ‘Much Ado About Jazz’ are £14.00 (adult) and £10.00 (child), which includes an optional hot light meal in the interval. Tickets available on 01777 706433 or 01777 700220. Will be suitable for 12 years and up.
