As the weather warms up Mr Straw’s House continues to welcome visitors and share stories of the Straw family and their lives. Ahead of the summer holidays, Mr Straw’s House takes on a more relaxing feel. As the flowers flourish and the blossom continues, why not take the weight off, visit the house when it is less busy and beat the crowds? Relax with a cup of tea in the garden and while away the hours. Mr Straw’s House is unique. A house crammed to the rafters with everyday objects. A walk back in time; which nods to the nostalgia only felt by a step into the more recent past.
If you fancy a stroll you could even combine your visit with one of our Worksop Walks on 24th May or 21st June, and discover a little more about the Straw family and their relationship to the town in which they lived. If you’ve visited before, or fancy staying a little longer, you may like to visit on 8th June for The Straw’s Revealed and take part in an extended visit with the chance to take a peek into the Archive and Textile Store and learn more about the family and their collection. If you don’t fancy the additional tours, you can still plan a visit; with the new tour for this season, the Conservation Studio and a brand-new display ‘The Shop at the Top of the Street’ there is always something new to see and discover. As it is a small property, it is essential you book your tour in advance by calling 01909 482380.
