Dial-a-Trip is a social community car scheme that covers Bassetlaw and some parts of the Newark and Sherwood districts.
It helps people who are unable to access public transport and have no other transport of their own. It is run solely by volunteers.
The group could now use your help.
Have you found yourself with some free time and don’t know what to do with it? Do you enjoy driving? Do you like meeting new and interesting people? How would you like to help your community with medical appointments or social events?
Working with your available hours, client and journey details will be sent to you, including the client’s pick up details (usually their home), details of where they are going (eg GP appointment) and their arrival time. There is a waiting time which is usually an hour. You will then take them back to their home. Fuel is reimbursed on each trip.
Volunteers already with Dial-a-Trip say they find it really interesting and rewarding. There are no weekends or Bank Holidays trips.
