A stunning backdrop at Retford Bowling Green

by | 8 August 2017 | Retford, Sports Club

It would be easy to immerse ourselves with just playing our bowls and enjoying the success we are achieving this year, but at Retford Bowling Green there is something more.

Both members and visiting teams, as well as guests, are treated to a stunning backdrop as soon as they enter the gates, adding greatly to their experience of an afternoon or evening of bowls. A great deal of work, of course, goes into setting this scene and we are indebted to Peter Tindall, a life member, who supplies the hanging baskets every year and to club members, notably Shirley Pickersgill, for their tireless work on the borders and surrounds. The hedges are kept well-manicured by Steve Kenny and Keith Worth and a number of committee members are always around to supply a bit of muscle.
