The Pilgrim Museum at the Hub has welcomed many visitors over the summer including some from America who were interested in discovering that the start of American history was from our local villages. We have also had our largest group visit so far with over 80 pupils and teachers arriving on two coaches from the Pilgrim Academy School in Immingham.
It turned into a superb day with the children, who were so beautifully behaved, taking part in a range of activities including drawing a ‘Pilgrim’, learning about a church in our superb St Swithun’s, exploring the Retford townscape with members of the Civic Society; who now have ‘Blue Badge’ guide status, and of course learning the fascinating story of the Pilgrims in the Museum and exploring the concepts of education, learning and freedom. We look forward to a return visit next year.
The Hub welcomes school visits and offers a range of exciting activities organised by our top professional educators. The Illuminate event in November is the ideal opportunity to organise a school visit to enable children to fully explore the Pilgrim story and understand why it is so important. If you are part of a school or have a pupil please visit our website or contact us to book.
The Gallery/meeting room is also available to hire for meetings and events both during the day and in evenings.
On a lighter note, our thoughts turn to Christmas and seeking out gifts for our loved ones. Please remember the Hub, with its wide range of all sorts of unique locally produced gifts — in total we have over 1,000 different products — and sales help the local community.
