Gardening is essentially about enjoying being outside in the fresh air and Leverton and District Garden Group’s summer programme came to an end with a visit round a garden belonging to husband and wife group members. In a week of very heavy showers, members were delighted to get just fine drizzle and the bulk of the evening was spent outside. A few members tried the ‘Find Me’ activity although this proved surprisingly troublesome, but there was a clear winner of three lovely handmade cups.
This was intended to be a social event and so it proved. It is clear that some good friendships have been formed since the start of the group 18 months ago — another benefit of gardening.
You don’t have to have a big garden or be particularly skilful to join us and become part of a group who learn something new at every meeting. On 6th September Don Witton will talk about ‘People, Plants, Pleasures and Passion’ — goodness knows what that’s all about!
The programme is varied and always interesting so come along. If you want to join the group it’s 7.30pm on the first Wednesday of the month in the Memorial Institute in South Leverton. Non members are welcome (£4.00) and members would love to see you.
