The Big Draw is an annual festival of drawing which takes place in towns and cities all over the world. Some places charge for taking part and others offer their activities free of charge. The aim is to get as many people taking part in art as possible.
Each year the festival has a theme and this year it is ‘come back to colour’. This theme fits well with Gainsborough’s work to reinvent itself with restoration projects around the Market Place and Lord Street which are beginning to get underway.
Help has come through a grant from the Arts Fund and the National Lottery to assist with planning a free workshop to make lanterns and design new window illustrations for Gainsborough Heritage Centre. The lanterns can be used on the Illuminate Guided Walk which is being planned for 26th November this year.
So, go along to Sweet Caroline’s dessert parlour and join in with a fun day of art and craft, assisted by the friendly Townscape Heritage Team who are there to help. All the materials are provided and the workshop is completely free of charge. Just pop in on Saturday 22nd October between 10.00am and 4.00pm.
