Scotter Village Hall officially opened in July 1985 following a successful community fundraising campaign. Since then, it has remained a vital community asset, providing a home for a wide range of local groups and activities.
Like any well-used building, the hall requires ongoing maintenance. The village hall committee recently appealed for donations to repair the car park. Thanks to the generosity of supporters, there has been enough funding to patch the potholes, but a full resurfacing and line marking project is still needed. Further fundraising is also required to help maintain the hall itself.
An events group has been formed to organise fundraising activities, bringing the community together while supporting the future of the hall. The committee would also like to hear residents’ ideas for future events and welcomes offers of help. Any time people can spare will be greatly appreciated.
The next fundraising event is a quiz night on Saturday 22nd August at 7.00pm. Guests are invited to bring their own drinks and snacks, and both teams and individuals are welcome, with teams able to be formed on the night. There will be a prize for the winning team and a wooden spoon for those finishing last.
Looking ahead, Rock Choir will perform on Saturday 10th October at 7.00pm, while a children’s Halloween Party will take place on Saturday 31st October in the afternoon, leaving plenty of time for trick or treating afterwards.
