Gainsborough’s National Bike Week celebrations take place from 10th June to 18th June and the town’s two Bike Week co-ordinators Trevor Halstead and Daniel Nicholson are very excited about National Bike Week. They are involved in six different activities which aim to promote cycling as a source of fun for families and individuals, you will feel great taking part.
Their largest event will be a charity fundraising ride for The Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance on Sunday 11th June. There are sponsored rides for all the family of 10, 15 and 30 miles, starting at 10.30am from the Gainsborough Uphill Community Centre on Riseholme Road. The Pedalling Picnic on Sunday 11th June from 4.00pm is a fantastic event, people of all ages pack their tea time goodies and make their way to Richmond Park in Gainsborough for one big family get-together.
Gainsborough Aegir Cycling Club is running a short five mile novice race on Wednesday 14th June. If you have ever wondered what it is like to take part in a time trial and you are over 12 years of age then why not give it a go? Meet on Laughton Lane (near the junction to East Stockwith) at 6.30pm to take part. Riders under 18 are required to wear a helmet and require parental consent. The overall winner will receive The Gainsborough Cycles Trophy to keep for a year, there are junior and ladies awards. The race has also mountain bike categories.
A leisure ride to Whisby (50miles) will depart Roseway, Gainsborough at 9.30am on Sunday 18th June.
