Misterton Gala is moving to a new venue and will be at Misterton Golf Driving Range on Saturday 1st July from 12.00pm to 6.30pm.
Free minibus transport will be provided, picking up from the Pinfold Veterinary Surgery and the War Memorial. The minibus will run a continuous circuit between these two venues and the Gala throughout the afternoon. Both locations are suitable for ‘park and ride’. By kind permission, cars may be parked in the vet’s car park after 12.00pm.
Back by popular request, a traditional brass band will be one of the main attractions. There will also be ‘music on the lorry’, and tribute act Blondie has been provisionally booked to bring the Gala to a close. Already, 20 stallholders have booked, and displays will include Everett-Fox School of Dance and musical theatre group, Be’dazzled. There’s a range of attractions for children, and a line-up of numerous old and interesting vehicles. Refreshments will be on sale; the bar will be open. Entry is £3 for adults and unaccompanied children; accompanied children are free. All profits go to local charities and good causes.
As part of the Misterton Gala, there’s a scarecrow competition again. To be in the competition, Misterton residents must complete an entry form — email firstname.lastname@example.org for one or call Nikki on 01427 891629. All scarecrows must advertise the date, time, and place of the Gala, and all must include a sunflower, real or fake.
Entries should be returned by Friday 23rd June; judging will be during the week before the Gala (but the judges will only visit those scarecrows registered as entrants). The prize winner will be announced at the Gala.
