The Kirton in Lindsey Entertainment Organisation (KLEO) is returning in October and November with two shows both supported by North Lincolnshire’s Rural Touring scheme LIVELINCS.
The first is on Thursday 14th October at 7.30pm in the Town Hall, when the performers will be Hilary James and Simon Mayor.
This popular, world-class duo bring a unique combination of Simon Mayor’s humour and virtuosity and Hilary James ‘honey dripping voice’… not to mention her enormous Mando bass!
But it’s probably the diversity of their repertoire that surprises people most: from folksongs to blues, Berlioz, classical mandolin showstoppers, swing fiddle and some of their own notorious comic songs. This hugely entertaining evening is not to be missed. Serious stuff – but don’t take it too seriously! See more at www.mayorandjames.com.
The second show will be on Thursday 4th November at 7.30pm in the Town Hall, when the performers will be the Balbir Singh Dance Group with their show ‘Love and Spice’.
Love and Spice combines different art forms and cultural traditions in surprisingly delicious ways. Blending Kathak dance and live music, with a chef cooking live on stage… this is truly a multicultural feast for all the senses.
An elderly couple, still very much in love, look back on their lives together, reliving key moments through memories of the meals they shared. As the couple reminisce, their younger selves appear, and enact the memories of times past. The atmosphere is suffused with the aromas of a richly spiced life. With the couple’s advancing age, each has lost one of their senses: he the sense of smell; she the sense of taste. Can spices – Black Pepper and Cardamom, the king and queen of spices – help them recapture what has been lost? Annapoorna, the goddess of food and nourishment, summons the butter-thief Krishna and the sweet-toothed elephant-headed god Ganesh to help her cook a special meal in the kitchen. Together they will try to bring back the couple’s lost senses, but what else will be rekindled along the way? See more at www.balbirsinghdance.co.uk.
Tickets prices for both shows are £8.00 full price and £6.00 concessions. They are available from Londis store in the Market Place or from Martin on 01652 648435 or email at m.hollingsworth205@btinternet.com.
