Gainsborough Musical Theatre Society are proud and excited to announce that their summer show is Half a Sixpence! The show is currently wowing audiences in the West End and local performers cannot wait to show everyone their version.

This iconic British musical adaptation of HG Wells’s disguised autobiographical novel Kipps: The Story Of A Simple Soul. Arthur Kipps, an orphan, is an over-worked draper’s assistant. He is a charming but ordinary young man who, along with his fellow apprentices, dreams of a better and more fulfilling world, When Kipps unexpectedly inherits a fortune that propels him into high society, it confuses everything he thought he knew about life.

With a long-lost girlfriend thrown into the mix and an upper-class family trying to help him spend his fortune, Kipps doesn’t know which way to turn. There’s lots of well-known toe tapping numbers including ‘If the rains got to fall’, ‘Money to burn’, ‘Flash, Bang, Wallop’ and the title song ‘Half a Sixpence’ it’s a musical not to be missed.

Half a Sixpence will run from 4th July to 8th July, at the Trinity Arts Centre in Gainsborough. Tickets are available now from the Trinity Arts Centre Box Office on 01427 676655 or Barnes Jewellers and only cost £10.
