The White Unicorn Project Community Interest Company (CIC) is a not for profit organisation based in Kexby near Gainsborough and is licensed by West Lindsey District Council. The project gives people of all ages in the local community a unique experience by providing opportunities to learn natural horsemanship, develop a special bond with horses and connect to nature.
Teaching traditional horse management and riding skills is not the goal of the project. Instead, the project provides an experience that encourages the development of life skills and core values through learning good horsemanship, interacting with horses and nature and simply having fun!
The project offers a wide range of services and activities for all members of the local community. These include:
- Kids Club
- School Holiday Activity Days
- Natural horsemanship lessons and coaching
- Tailored sessions with our horses for adults and children with special needs
The White Unicorn Project CIC has recently received £2,000 of funding from players of the People’s Postcode Lottery through the Postcode Community Trust. The funding boost has enabled the Project to purchase an 18ft Native American Teepee, which is used as a fun indoor space for learning and provides a much needed area which can be used throughout the year.
Lorraine Hardy said: “The funding boost from the Postcode Lottery — Postcode Community Trust has made a huge difference to us. The teepee is used by all our visitors and has proven very popular with children as well as those with special needs.”
The White Unicorn Project has just released details of their Children’s Summer Activity Programme. The activity sessions run on Thursdays and Sundays throughout the summer holiday and include sessions such as:
The Native American Horse
Visit our Native American Teepee and learn about the Native American culture, their horses and the meaning of the symbols and colours they painted on them. Come and join us and paint symbols on our beautiful spirit horse and handsome medicine horse.
Queens and Knights
Have fun, be creative and write your own play about Queens and Knights. Dress up with the horses, put on your cape and crown or carry your magic shield and let your imagination fly. A child-led activity supported by adults, in which the children write the play.
It’s similar to dog agility only better, because it’s with horses! Come and join us for a fun afternoon where horse and handler work together through an obstacle course. At the end of the afternoon you will be able to take part in a mini competition.
Join us for an hour and spend time with our small team of horses. Learn how to groom your horse, and plait their mane/tails. At the end, you will get the chance to watch them show you a few of their favourite tricks.
