by | 1 May 2017 | Community Event, Gainsborough

The next film to be shown at Lea Village Hall as part of the Flix in the Stix project will be Sully (2016) on Thursday 11th May at 7.30pm.

Directed by Clint Eastwood and starring Tom Hanks, Sully tells the true story of when, on 15th January 2009, the world witnessed the ‘Miracle on the Hudson’ when Captain “Sully” Sullenberger glided his disabled plane onto the frigid waters of the Hudson River, saving the lives of all 155 aboard. However, even as Sully was being heralded by the public and the media for his unprecedented feat of aviation skill, an investigation was unfolding that threatened to destroy his reputation and his career.

There will be food and drink available on site, with proceeds going to the village hall committee. Films will begin at 7.30pm, but doors will be open from 7.00pm, so make sure you arrive early to grab your seat. Tickets will be priced at £3, with £1 of all proceeds being donated to the village hall committee for use within the hall and local community. All other box office proceeds are put back into the community cinema, to allow it to continue running each month.

Lea Village Hall committee continue to host ‘Flix in the Stix’, run by Lincolnshire-based non-profit organisation Blueprint: Film Foundation. The service provides monthly cinema screenings to seven rural locations across Lincolnshire. Films are screened by a technician on state-of-the-art equipment, transforming the local hall into a cinema for one evening a month.
