Monday 21st June is the first day of summer and, this year, the first day that we should be generally free of lockdown restrictions (hopefully – fingers crossed!). And it’s Retford Make Music Day, so there will be live music in the town centre throughout the day.
If you have been wary about being out and about over the last year, perhaps this could be the first steps for you – there will be plenty of space in Market Square that day.
Retford Make Music Day is part of the world’s largest annual music festival with freeevents planned in the Market Square, Carolgate and maybe Retford Library.
Worldwide, thousands of musicians, of all ages, skill levels and musical persuasions will perform in public, celebrating music in all its forms and encouraging everyone to join together and play music.
Groups are very welcome to have a slot and join the celebrations, plus soloists and buskers.
In previous years, people have loved hearing the music around them, listening to familiar and not so familiar tunes. Young children are fascinated by the various instruments and sounds, so take them along!
To see a more detailed timetable closer to the date, check the noticeboard on Spa Road, or to find out more or how to get involved please look at www.facebook.com/RetfordMakeMusicDay or contact Tessa Rolph on 01777 472461 or at firstname.lastname@example.org.
