The Lincoln Waites

The Kirton in Lindsey Society and the Kirton in Lindsey Entertainment Organisation (KLEO) have combined to bring a unique evening of mediaeval music and song. Waites were traditionally musicians of town mayors, as in Lincoln since at least 1398 until 1857 when Lincoln’s last Waite, Selby Dickinson, died.
However, Waites returned to Lincoln in 2007 when the Mayor of Lincoln’s Band of Music reformed to become the City of Lincoln Waites. Their music and costumes are set around the time of the Wars of the Roses (think Richard III and Henry VII) and they play a variety of instruments from sackbuts to small pipes and drums.
Tickets cost £10.00 / £8.00 concessions and those 16 and under free (must be accompanied by a paying adult). There will also be a bar, hot drinks and raffle.
