Festival of Remembrance 2024

Festival of Remembrance 2024

Worksop Royal British Legion (RBL) is delighted to be hosting a Festival of Remembrance on Saturday 19th October at North Notts Community Arena. This year’s event is commemorating the 80th anniversary of D-Day. For this very special event the RBL are seeking all D-Day veterans and their families as special guests. They are asking readers for their help to trace these very special veterans who did so much for us. The Festival will be a real opportunity to say thank you.

Operation Over Lord was the largest amphibious invasion in history and it is so important to recognise the massive undertaking and the sacrifices made. Please go along and be part of the commemoration. This year has seen a massive national commemoration and there are very few D-Day veterans remaining, so it is fitting for Worksop RBL to mark D-Day.

The Festival is a unique partnership between the RBL and the Worksop Charter Trustees to deliver. So many people are involved: our Army, Sea and Air Cadets, Scouting, Guiding. Seaforth Highlanders Pipes and Drums, Blidworth Welfare Band, Dukeries Ukeries ukuleles. It will be compered, and include singing, by Lily Taylor Ward.

It is both a celebration of our armed forces and a commemoration to the fallen and significantly passes on the baton of Remembrance on to the next generation. Tickets are available from North Notts Arena.

This is very much a not-for-profit event; tickets are modestly priced and accompanied children are free admission. This may be one of the very last time to say thank you to this very special breed of veterans.

This is the only Festival of Remembrance organised by the Royal British Legion in Nottinghamshire, so is not to be missed.
