If you have an interest in the arts and would like to learn more, then why not go along to one of the Arts Society Dukeries’ meetings. They have monthly lecture meetings (on the first Wednesday of the month, from 11.00am to 12.00pm, at the Civic Centre, Carlton in Lindrick, except for summer and winter breaks) and two extra, special interest days each year. They also have trips out to places of interest and a holiday for members.
The next lecture will be on Wednesday 6th November and is titled ‘Men and the Artist: how the advertising industry has exploited fine art’. Fine art has provided advertisers and their agencies with a great deal of material to use in their campaigns. Tony Rawlings describes some of the processes by which advertisements are created and why the works of Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael and Michelangelo have been a particularly rich source of their visuals.
Coffee is served from 10.00am and the lecture is from 11.00am to 12.00pm approximately. There is free car parking.
