Crafty archaeology!

by | 13 July 2019 | Children's Group, Gainsborough, Heritage

Supporting the National Festival of Archaeology 2019, there will be Craft Archaeology on Thursday 25th July, from 10.00am to 12.30pm, at the Town Hall in Kirton in Lindsey. This is a joint event for families, with the Society for Lincolnshire History and Archaeology and the Kirton in Lindsey Society.

Investigate images and real and replica artefacts and explore how we can use them to find out about people in the past and how they lived. Enjoy a selection of craft activities inspired by archaeological artefacts from Lincolnshire including clay to make a jester’s head, card and embossing foils to create a piece of Roman style jewellery, and your very own version of the famous Witham shield decorated with Celtic designs!

Admission is free with a £1.00 charge for each craft activity. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Drinks and light refreshments will be available.

For more information contact the Kirton in Lindsey Society, please email enquiries@kirtoninlindseysociety.org.uk or just turn up on the day, booking is not required. For news about what’s on at the town hall, visit www.kirtoninlindseytownhall.co.uk.
